Step aboard the Aqua Hunter for your own private slice of South Florida's underwater paradise. This isn't your typical cattle boat dive - we're talking maximum four divers, which means you'll actually have room to gear up without bumping elbows with strangers. Whether you're planning technical training dives, hunting for specific critters, or want to explore wrecks at your own pace, this charter gives you the freedom to dive your way. Based out of Lake Park Harbor Marina, you're perfectly positioned to hit some of the region's top-rated reef systems and artificial structures that make the Palm Beach County waters famous among serious divers.
You've got two solid options here: the four-hour two-tank adventure or the full six-hour three-tank marathon. The half-day charter starts at $660 and gives you plenty of bottom time to knock out your training requirements or chase down that photo you've been after. But if you're serious about maximizing your underwater time, the six-hour option is where it's at - just make sure you're certified for Nitrox because you'll want those extended no-decompression limits. The Aqua Hunter heads out from Lake Park Harbor, putting you within easy reach of the legendary Breakers Reef, Mizpah wreck, and dozens of other world-class dive sites that dot the continental shelf. Your professional dive guide knows these waters like the back of their hand and will tailor each dive to what your group wants to accomplish.
Here's how we roll: you'll get a thorough dive briefing covering the day's sites, current conditions, and safety protocols before we even fire up the engines. The boat carries all the safety gear you'd expect from a customer favorite operation - oxygen, first aid, and communication equipment. You're welcome to bring your own gear, but if you need tanks, they're available for $20 each through the shop - just arrange that when you book. The Aqua Hunter is set up specifically for small groups, so there's actual space to organize your gear and suit up without the usual chaos. Between dives, you'll have complimentary snacks and drinks to keep your energy up, plus plenty of time to log your dives and plan the next descent. The boat's design makes giant stride entries easy, and the ladder system gets you back aboard smoothly even when you're wearing full tech gear.
The Palm Beach County waters are absolutely loaded with life year-round. Green sea turtles are practically guaranteed sightings here - these guys cruise the reefs constantly, and the larger adults can hit 300 pounds. They're most active during morning dives and couldn't care less about divers, making for perfect photo opportunities. You'll also encounter massive schools of yellowtail snapper that create those classic swirling walls of fish. These silver beauties are curious and will often approach divers closely, especially around the artificial reefs where they gather in hundreds.
Goliath grouper are the real showstoppers in these waters. These gentle giants can exceed 400 pounds and love hanging around the wrecks and ledges. Summer through fall is peak season for goliath encounters, and they're surprisingly tolerant of divers - some of the regulars will actually pose for photos. The artificial reefs also attract massive schools of spadefish that create spectacular underwater tornados, particularly during their spawning season in late spring.
Keep your eyes peeled for spotted eagle rays gliding over the sand channels between reefs. These graceful swimmers can have wingspans over six feet and often travel in small groups. Winter months bring the best eagle ray action as they move through the area following temperature changes. Nurse sharks are another common sight, often resting under ledges during the day. They're completely harmless and make for great underwater photography subjects, especially the larger specimens that can reach eight feet in length.
This private charter setup is perfect for serious divers who want to maximize their underwater experience without dealing with crowded dive boats and rushed surface intervals. The small group size means personalized attention from your guide, custom dive profiles, and the flexibility to spend extra time at sites that really grab your attention. Whether you're working on advanced certifications, practicing new skills, or just want to explore South Florida's renowned reef systems at your own pace, the Aqua Hunter delivers the kind of diving experience that keeps people coming back. Book your dates early, especially during the cooler months when diving conditions are absolutely prime and private charters fill up fast.
